Hometown Table Runner

Things are a bit hectic here this week.  My MIL is coming to stay for a few days on Friday so I'm on two stealth missions - 1. cleaning the house thoroughly & 2. making her a birthday present as she will be having her birthday while she is here.  I bought this Hometown charm pack just before Xmas, I was originally planning to make a Xmas present for her but then of course, Xmas was just too crazy and I didn't get to make any presents.

Front: Hometown charm pack

When we went down to Melbourne last October I snapped a couple of photos of her place to help me choose some fabrics that will co-ordinate.  I was already thinking that Hometown would be a good match but I wanted to be sure.  I really like it, I hope she does too!

MIL's abode

I'm making good progress on both the cleaning and the sewing.  I have even been de-cluttering and sold a couple of things on eBay and have bags of clothes to donate or give to family.  Sometimes I really need the motivation of a houseguest to get those boring jobs out of the way.

I'll be back later in the week with a Hometown reveal and I also promise to take the time to photograph my Rainbow Road table runner.

Mouthy Stitches Pouch Received

My Mouthy Stitches secret swap pouch arrived earlier in the week.  My haul also included some buttons, ribbons and scraps of fabric.  I really love that Melody Miller typewriter fabric and I even tried to buy some but it's getting hard to get.

Photos from dheyen

It's a quirky little French number, made by Danny in Pheonix.  Don't you just love the moustache fabric!  The French text fabric is pretty cool too and there's a lovely embroidered "Bonjour" and raw edge applique Eiffel Tower.  I think I'm going to use it to store my embroidery hoop and floss.

Thanks Danny!!

Machine Binding Rainbow Road

Feels good to be machine sewing binding on Rainbow Road. This runner is turning out so much better than I anticipated!

The sun is shining, so as long as I don't run out of thread i'll be able to have a full reveal of this later.

Rainbow Road - Sneak Peak

I'm so close to finishing.  Half of the quilting is done (although not my best work), maybe I should've used more basting pins.  The black crossword fabric from Spotlight is going to be the binding, the house fabric from Ikea is the backing (it's grey not as dark as the photo shows).  Can't wait to have this one finished so that I can move onto the next project!

WIP Weds

There have been moments of productivity the last couple of weeks.  I am full-on into Curves Camp now, the tutorials are getting close to the last week but I am about two weeks behind as I've spent most of this last week focussed on the pouch swap.  I also need to make time to start on the FQ8 Paper Piecing Sew Along.

Three finishes this week...

Completed:

Flannel bib made a couple of weeks ago, but I only got the press studs last week.

Improv Log Cabin Notecard (sent to Mouthy Stitches partner with her pouch).

Mouthy Stitches Pouch Swap

Posted on Tuesday with a bundle of 'scraps', waiting in suspense for my partner's reaction (even though I know she's not going to tell me if she hates it).

New/In Progress:

I cut into these fabrics last week and started assembling this table runner.  I had to put in on hold to make my Mouthy Stitches pouch.  I hope to get back into it tomorrow, there's a lot of seams to iron!
